About the National Breast Cancer Directory

Welcome to the National Breast Cancer Directory, your comprehensive cancer resource platform in Malaysia. This directory is a joint initiative established by the National Cancer Society Malaysia in partnership with Novartis to empower individuals with reliable information on breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, and support services across the country.

Breast cancer is a significant public health concern worldwide, including in Malaysia. As the most common cancer among women globally, understanding its prevalence, risk factors, diagnostic methods, and treatment options is crucial for effective management and prevention strategies. In Malaysia, breast cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality, posing substantial challenges to healthcare providers and policymakers. Based on the Malaysia National Cancer Registry Report 2017-2021, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. The incidence rate is higher in 2017-2021 compared to 2012-2016, starting at age 40, particularly in the 65-69 age group (National Cancer Institute (Institut Kanser Negara), 2024).

The National Breast Cancer Directory aims to serve as a centralised information hub where patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals can easily access up-to-date resources tailored to their specific needs. Besides, it seeks to bridge current gaps in cancer care by facilitating timely access to evidence-based information, enhancing coordination, and supporting informed decision-making.

How the National Breast Cancer Directory Works

Understanding our platform and how it empowers cancer care across Malaysia.

The National Breast Cancer Directory is an initiative to centralise and streamline access to breast cancer-related resources in Malaysia. Through a user-friendly website, the directory provides comprehensive, localised information on breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, and support, addressing the challenges patients and caregivers face in navigating fragmented healthcare systems.

The National Breast Cancer Directory aims to bridge this gap by offering a centralised platform where individuals can easily find reliable and updated information tailored to their needs. By raising awareness about available services and empowering users with knowledge, the directory seeks to enhance the cancer care experience for patients and their families.
